Gemma Louise Atkinson (Bury, Greater Manchester, November 15, 1984) is an English actress, television figure, and model best known for having played Lisa Hunter in Hollyoaks.
Early Life of Gemma Atkinson:
Atkinson attended Castlebrook High School in high school before becoming a model.
In 2006 she began dating soccer player Marcus Bent, the couple ended in 2007 however they returned in November of the same year, the couple got engaged in 2008, however they separated.
Gemma began dating Britain’s Got Talent’s Liam Richards, 6 however the relationship ended in 2013.
In December 2013 she began dating former rugby player and professional coach Olly Foster, however the relationship ended.
Currently, Gemma is dating the professional dancer Gorka Márquez, on February 1, 2019, she announced on her Instagram that they were expecting her first daughter. On July 4, 2019, the couple welcomed Mia Louise Márquez.
Atkinson rose to fame with the role of Lisa Hunter in the Channel 4 junior novel Hollyoaks. Atkinson and Marcus Patric (who played Ben Davies) also appeared in a sequel called Hollyoaks: Let Loose for Channel E4, in which their characters start a new life together in Chester. This has been followed by Hollyoaks: In the City, also broadcast on E4.
Other television roles included acting as herself in the pilot of Plus One, part of the pilot series Comedy Showcase in October 2009. In April 2009 she finished filming an episode of The Bill. Her role as Ria Crossley, a drug dealer’s girlfriend.
In film, Atkinson appeared in the British independent film Boogie Woogie, which was released at the Edinburgh International Film Festival in June 2009. She finished shooting a horror film called 13Hrs (sic)
On stage, Atkinson appeared in Peter Pan at the Manchester Opera House in December 2008. She had the lead role over John Thomson who played Captain Hook. Gemma is currently featured in a Tim Firth production called Calendar Girls. at the Noel Coward Theater, between July 28 and October 17 where she performed as Elaine.
Atkinson made her video game debut by appearing in Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 (2008) in the role of Lt. Eva McKenna, she participated in the sequel Command & Conquer Red Alert 3:Uprising (2009). She was also present at the Electronic Arts “Be The One” event in Trafalgar Square on October 29, 2008, which was part of the London Games Festival.
Atkinson also starred in Goldie Lookin Chain’s music video “R’n’B” and appeared on the album cover.
In 2011 she joined as a recurring character in the series Casualty where she played the paramedic Tamzin Bayle, until 2012. On May 24, 2014 she returned to the series again and her last appearance was on October 11 of the same year. after her character decided to leave after her fiancé Jeff Collier died in an accident.
In 2015, she joined the main cast of the Emmerdale Farm series where she played Carly Hope, the daughter of Bob Hope (Tony Audenshaw), June 22, 2017, after her character decided to leave Emmerdale to start a new life with her ex-boyfriend Matt.
Beginning in 2006, Atkinson underwent breast augmentation surgery, bringing her bra size to 34E. She said in an interview that due to a strict diet she had lost weight, as well as her breasts, had been reduced so that with the surgery he was only looking for the shape he originally had.

Gemma has undertaken a wide range of promotional activities; was the female face of the 2007 British Grand Prix and worked for the On Yer Bike London campaign as a prelude to the Tour De France. She has also modeled for underwear brands, including the image of La Senza and Ultimo Lingerie. Opened Ultimo stores within Debenhams near London, Belfast, and Glasgow.
In September 2007 Atkinson organized a 5K charity run to raise awareness of breast cancer.
She even embarked on a 228km walk along the Great Wall of China in April 2008 as part of a charity event organized around Olivia Newton-John’s breast cancer awareness efforts. Joining her section were celebrities Marcus Patric and Ant and Dec, among others. The march was made with the intention of symbolizing the path (process) that cancer patients must follow for their recovery.
Atkinson visited the Home and Garden show at Chester Racecourse on July 5, 2008 to reveal a room design that he engineered with Arighi Bianchi (furniture store owner), which would be tailored to cooperate with the Teenage Cancer Trust.
This design will be applied in the TCT unit of the Christie Hospital in Manchester. Later, her design won first prize and won a trophy for her efforts, plus Gemma was invited to become an ambassador for the Teenage Cancer Trust charity movement.
On January 8, 2009 Atkinson went to Spinning fields in Manchester to help kick off the Great Manchester Race, a 10km charity race that takes place on May 17, 2009. The launch was also joined by singer Russell Watson, and actors Anthony Cotton and Britt Ekland. Gemma ran to raise funds for the New Children’s Hospital initiative. She finished the 10K race in one hour and six minutes.
