Rachel Annie McAdams (English: Rachel Anne McAdams, born 14 November 1949) is a Canadian actress. After completing a degree in a four-year theater program from York University in 2001, Make’Edams initially starred in Canadian television and films including My Name Is Tanino Perfect Pie (for which she received a Genie Award nomination) and Slings and Arrows ( For which he received the Gemini Award).
His first Hollywood film was the 2002 comedy film The Hot Chick. MakeAdams gained fame due to the lead roles in 2006’s Min Girls and The Notebook. In 2005, she appeared in the comedy-romance film Wedding Crashers, thriller film Red Eye and family drama film The Family Stone. She was dubbed “the next Julia Roberts” by the media and received a BAFTA Award nomination for Best Rising Star.
McAdams was born in London, Ontario, (Canada), and grew up in the town of St. Thomas. Her father, Lance, is a trucker, and her mother, Sandra, is a nurse. On her grandmother’s side, she is of Welsh descent. McAdams has two younger brothers, Daniel and Kayleen.
At the age of 4, he started ice skating and at the age of twelve, he started acting, going to the Original Kids Theater Company, in Ontario. In 2001 she graduated from York University in Toronto with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. She also attended the London Children’s Theater Company.
McAdams lives in Harbord Village in Toronto (Ontario, Canada), sharing a house with his younger brother. He also has the Green Card (permanent residence card in the United States) . On April 10, 2018, his first-born son, a male, along with his partner, the writer Jamie Linden, with whom he has had a relationship since 2016.

After appearing in his country in the television series Shotgun Lovedolls (2001) and participating in the Guilt by Association telefilm (2002), McAdams made his film debut starring in the film My Name is Tanino (2002), a comedy co-produced between Italy and Canada that Paolo Virzì directed.
That same year she appeared in the movie Perfect Pie, being nominated for the “Genie Awards” in Canada, 2 for her portrayal of the teenager Patsy Grady.
Her first film in Hollywood was the comedy The Hot Chick (2002), in which she played a student who changed bodies with a criminal (Rob Schneider).
The following year she returned to Canada to play a recurring role in the Slings and Arrows series (2003-2005), receiving two nominations for the Gemini Awards for her work on the series, resulting in a winner in one of them.
In 2004 her two-star roles arrived and probably the most successful and remembered to this day. The first was the youth comedy Mean Girls, co-starring Lindsay Lohan. McAdams received rave reviews for her portrayal of teenage Regina George, a malicious student.
Her second role was in the romantic drama The Notebook, an adaptation of Nicholas Sparks’ eponymous novel. McAdams and Ryan Gosling played a couple separated by different circumstances in 1940.
Despite the “mellowness” of the story, critics praised the performances of the leading actors. McAdams was nominated for these two roles for nearly a dozen awards, most of which were from the MTV Movie and the Teen Choice.2 In 2005, she starred in three films.
In Wedding Crashers, a highly successful comedy, she played Claire Cleary, the daughter of an influential politician and with a love interest for Owen Wilson.
He then appeared alongside Cillian Murphy in Red Eye, a thriller in which he plays Lisa Reisert, a woman threatened aboard a night flight by her seatmate.
Her last film was the dramatic comedy The Family Stone, with Diane Keaton, Sarah Jessica Parker, Luke Wilson, and Claire Danes.
McAdams retired from public life between 2006 and 2007, taking time off to dedicate herself and her family.
During that period, she turned down roles in films such as The Devil Wears Prada (2006), Casino Royale (2006), Mission Impossible 3 (2006), and Get Smart (2008).
In February 2006, she performed Eve Ensler’s work, The Vagina Monologues, at the St. Lawrence Center for the Arts in Toronto, raising funds for the V-day.
That same year she was also a candidate for the Orange Award for the emerging star, 2 awarded by the British Academy of Motion Picture and Television Arts and served as presenter at the 78th Oscar Awards, delivering the award for scientific or technical achievement .
In 2008, she returned with two minor films: The first was Married Life, a film in which she shared credits with Pierce Brosnan, Chris Cooper and Patricia Clarkson. Her second film was The Lucky Ones, a story of three soldiers who return home after the Iraq War and who do not know each other. Both films were a box office failure, but critics praised McAdams’ performances.
In 2012 McAdams acted in the romantic drama The Vow. McAdams and Channing Tatum played a newly married couple trying to rebuild their relationship after a car accident leaves the woman with no memories of her marriage. The film is based on a true story, 8 9 and was released to coincide with Valentine’s Day.
In 2013 she co-starred with Domhnall Gleeson in About Time, very well received by the critics of the experts and the public who awarded her her prize at the San Sebastián Festival that same year. In it, she plays the true love of Tim (Domhnall Gleeson), who at 21 discovers that he is capable of time travel.10 In 2015, he played the agent Ani Bezzerides in the second season of the television series True Detective.
That same year McAdams was selected by Marvel Studios to appear in a starring role in the movie Doctor Strange, which premiered in November 2016.
On January 14, 2016, she received her first Oscar Award nomination in the Best Supporting Actress category for her role in the movie Spotlight. In October 2016, Rachel McAdams joined the movie Disobedience, alongside Rachel Weisz. The English directorial debut of Chilean filmmaker Sebastián Lelio filming was announced for January 2017 in London.
In January 2017, it was announced that Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams were hired to star in a new comedy for the New Line titled Game Nigth. John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein will direct the project to be produced by Bateman together with James Garavente for Aggregate Films.
In May 2019, Rachel McAdams joined the cast of the Eurovision movie, for the Netflix (Rachel McAdams Netflix Movies) platform.
