Sushant Singh Rajput (Patna, January 21, 1986 – Bombay; June 14, 2020) was an Indian actor.

Rajput began his career with television series. His debut show was the Star Plus romantic drama Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil (2008), followed by a starring role in the popular Zee TV soap opera, Pavitra Rishta (2009-11)

Early Life:

He was born in Patna to Krishna Kumar Singh and Usha Singh, his ancestral home. One of her sisters, Mitu Singh, is a state-level cricketer.The death of her mother in 2002 left Rajput devastated and it was the same year that the family moved from Patna to Delhi.

Rajput attended St. Karen High School in Patna and Kulachi Hansraj Model School in New Delhi. According to Rajput, he took seventh place on the DCE entrance exam in 2003 and achieved admission to the Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) from the Delhi College of Engineering.

He was also a national winner of the Physics Olympiad. In total, he passed up to 11 engineering entrance exams, including the Indian School of Mines. After he began to participate in the artistic area and with more time shortage, it resulted in several delays that finally made him leave DCE.

He completed only three of the course’s four years before dropping out to pursue an acting career.

Personal Life:

Rajput had a public relationship with his Pavitra Rishta co-star, Ankita Lokhande, for six years. They separated in 2016.

Cause of Death of Sushant Singh:

He committed suicide at the age of 34 in Bandra. On June 14, 2020, he was found dead (hanging from the ceiling fan) at his home in Bandra, Mumbai. He reportedly had been suffering from depression for six months. No suicide note was found until June 15, 2020.

According to Bombay police IPS officer Vinay Chaubey, prescriptions and medical reports were located in Sushant’s room, which led to an investigation being opened.

Professional Life:

While studying at the Delhi University of Technology, Rajput enrolled in dance classes with Shiamak Davar. It was not until later that he began his artistic career, as some of his dance classmates showed interest in the theater and attended theater classes in Barry John’s classroom. Influenced by them, Rajput also joined the actor classes.

In them he found his passion for theater: “I found the liberating experience. I realized that I could communicate with the public. I knew I wanted to do it forever.”

A few months after joining the dance class, Rajput was selected to be a member of the Davar Standard Dance Company. In 2005, he was chosen to be part of the background dancers group at the 51st Filmfare Awards. In 2006,

he was part of the troop that went to Australia to play in the cultural program during the opening ceremony of the 2006 Commonwealth Games. At that time, happy for the success in dance and theater classes, he decided to leave engineering and a full-time dedication to the performing arts.

To take a break from the cinema, Rajput moved to Mumbai and joined Nadira Babbar’s Ekjute theater group, where he stayed for two and a half years. Meanwhile, he appeared in a television commercial for Nestlé Munch, which became famous across India.
