Shakira

Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll (born February 2, 1977, Barranquilla, Colombia), better known as Shakira, is a Colombian singer, songwriter, actress, dancer, philanthropist and producer. She debuted in the early 1990s in her home country, becoming known throughout the continent with the release of the album Pies Descalzos in 1996. This was followed two years later by the material ¿Dónde Están Los Ladrones?

Beginning in the third millennium, Shakira became known worldwide thanks to the Laundry Service record, which sold over fifteen million units. The promotion was made with songs such as “Whenever, Wherever”, “Underneath Your Clothes” or “Objection”, the first being one of the biggest commercial hits of the decade.

In 2005, the soloist promoted the recording of “La Tortura”, which became the first single from Fijación Oral Vol. 1. The song enjoyed worldwide acclaim, being one of the most successful songs in Spanish. Fijación Oral Vol. 1 was succeeded by Oral Fixation Vol. 2, a collection of English compositions. A reissued version of it included the song “Hips Don’t Lie”, which won first place in most music hierarchies in the world.

The album, which includes the singer’s eighth studio material, is titled She Wolf and was released in Europe in October 2009. It was preceded by the promotion of the eponymous song that marks a change in musical style and image for Shakira. This was followed by Sale el Sol – a year later – which is the synthesis of the soloist’s approximately twenty years of musical career.

His songs “Whenever, Wherever”, “La Tortura” and “Hips Don’t Lie” have set unprecedented records by other musicians to date.

Personal Life:

In 2000 the artist began a relationship with Antonio de la Rúa, the son of the then President of Argentina, Fernando de la Rúa. Over the years there have been various articles in the international press about the two.

In June 2007, a series of rumors began in the Latin American press that the couple had broken up. However, the couple had been seen during a meeting in a restaurant, which was denied by previous press articles.

Subsequently, various reports emerged that the artist and Rúa were ready to formalize their relationship, but everything was denied by the soloist, who stated: “I used to think that I should get married and that I should have children. But we behave like a married couple; we don’t need documents for that. ”

Shakira also stated in the November 2009 issue of Rolling Stone Magazine that she does not want to get married because she does not want to occupy the front pages of scandalous news newspapers if she reaches the point of divorce, the publication citing -o: “It’s funny how the newspapers want to see you married, and then see you divorced. Well, I won’t do any of that. ”

However, the singer stated that she wants to start a family, stating: “I don’t have any problems because we are not married. We behave like a married couple, even if we are not married.

But we have been together for nine years, and we have reached a consensus, and we are thinking of having children. ” In January 2011, Shakira announced that she had broken up with Antonio de la Rua, and in March she officially confirmed on Twitter the relationship between her and FC Barcelona defender Gerard Pique, presenting him as “the sun My “.

In September 2012, the soloist confirmed in a message on her official Facebook page that she was pregnant, expecting her first child with Pique, and stated that she would suspend all promotional activities until birth.

On January 22, 2013, at 9:36 p.m., Shakira became a mother, giving birth at the Teknon Hospital in Barcelona, by cesarean section, to a boy whom she and her father, Gerard Pique, named Milan.

According to statements made by the artist’s impresario, Fifi Kurzman, Shakira studied for years on her own. Kurzman also stated that the soloist is interested in the history and languages of the countries she visits.

In August 2007, after completing the promotional tour for the albums Fijación Oral Vol. 1 and Oral Fixation Vol. 2, the artist took a course on “Introduction to Western Civilization: Ancient Civilizations from Prehistory to 843 AD.”

(Introduction to Western Civilization: Ancient Civilizations from Prehistory to About A.D. 843) at UCLA University in Los Angeles, California.

First musical activities

Shakira was born on February 2, 1977 in Barranquilla, Colombia, to Nydia del Carmen Ripoll Torrado, of Spanish descent, and William Mebarak Chadid, of Lebanese descent. She has eight half-brothers and sisters from a previous marriage of her father.

It is of Roman Catholic religion. The singer showed a creative spirit from an early age, composing her first poem, “La Rosa De Cristal” (Romanian: “Crystal Rose”), at the age of four. Throughout her childhood she wrote a number of short literary works, while her first song was written at the age of eight.

“Tus gafas oscuras” (en: “Your black glasses”) was inspired by a motorcycle accident that resulted in the death of one of his half-brothers. The term “Shakira” in Arabic is the word “grateful.”

Also at the age of four, her father took her to an oriental restaurant, where she first heard the sounds of Middle Eastern music. Soon she began to dance on the table, which was acclaimed by those present.

According to the artist, this was caused by “a natural instinct to move my hips and belly to the beat of the music.” Despite her passion for music, she was not accepted into the school choir because of her vocal modulation, which was too pronounced.

At the same time, his music teacher likened his voice to the sounds of a goat. The soloist returned to the institution after winning her first music competition to prove her potential to her teacher.

At the age of eight, the company Shakira’s father worked for went bankrupt. While the situation stabilized, she lived with her relatives in Los Angeles, California. When she returned to Barranquilla, she noticed that most of the family’s property was sold. She later stated the following:

“In my child’s mind, this was the end of the world.” Her father wanted to show her that the situation could be worse than that, taking her to an orphanage. After two years he began to play at a number of events in his hometown, gaining some notoriety.

Producer Monica Ariza, who was impressed with her songs, persuaded Sony Columbia President Ciro Vargas to audition for Shakira. He performed three songs and signed a contract to produce three albums.
